Litscher and Lechner Take Sprint Eliminator

Thousands of mountain bike enthusiasts descended on Pickering on Friday night to see the curtain raised on the 2010 mountain bike world cup event, with the Pro Sprint Eliminator event being held in the town. Local people as well as visitors from around the world enjoyed an exciting day and night of thrills and some spills too.
The winning professionals were: Switzerland's: Thomas Litscher and Italy's: Eva Lechner. Both riders taking £1,000 each in prize money.
The day and evening of sport was swiftly followed by an evening and night street party. Local musicians entertained a packed Market Place as young and not so young danced into the dark hours.
Thomas Litscher told me he was very happy and excited to be in Pickering.
